Beyond the Self: Music as a Shared Journey

For me, music has never been solely about fame or financial gain. It’s about expression,

exploration, and creating something meaningful with the resources available to me.

Every song I create is an opportunity to push myself to new creative boundaries — to

bring an idea from spark to sound with authenticity and heart.

Take, for example, the idea of crafting a Bollywood party track with Gujarati folk

influences. Rather than stopping at the concept, I dive deep. I’ll research Gujarati slang,

build a catchy chorus, and find a local singer to bring cultural depth and authenticity to

the song. I’ll produce the track myself, and if the result calls for a visual, I’ll assemble a

team — dancers, lights, and cameras — often through barter-based collaborations. For

me, it’s always about the song — the experience it creates and the people it connects.

So far, I’ve released five songs, with 15 completed. Two of those — Qaraar Tha

featuring Anisha Roy and Ek Hawa Ka Jhonka featuring Ravinder Roby — include

music videos and are out on all streaming platforms, including my monetized YouTube

channel. Six of the 15 tracks are collaborations, and those have been some of the most

fulfilling experiences of my journey. Working with a team sharpens your vision and

expands your perspective. You learn not only about music but also about leadership,

compromise, and execution. Each collaboration adds new lessons and personal growth.

These experiences fuel my motivation to keep creating.

While I’m still early in my career, I’m always open to guiding beginners. I often remind

them to treat music like a sacred practice. In the beginning, every step should be

focused on two things: expanding your creative horizons and learning how to generate

sustainable income from your art. It’s about making your passion work for you.

Artists and collectives that inspire me include Seedhe Maut, Kalamkaar, Gully Gang,

N.W.A., Wu-Tang Clan, Motley Crue, and Queen — all of whom thrived by leaning into

the power of community. One day, I hope to start my own label or join one that aligns

with my creative vision.

Because in the end, music isn’t just a solo path — it’s a collective journey. And when

done right, that journey echoes far beyond the self, creating legacies and inspiring

others along the way, bringing us closer together and forging unbreakable bonds.
